Blue Ivy Carter

NEW YORK -- Jay-Z and Beyoncé announced the birth of their daughter in an official statement Monday, calling her birth "extremely peaceful."

"Hello Hello Baby Blue!" the power couple said in an announcement.

"We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012. Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven," the couple said.

"She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7 lbs [3.18 kg] and it was the best experience of both of our lives," they added.

Beyoncé, 30, was believed to still be at Lenox Hill Hospital on Manhattan's Upper East Side Monday. The couple reportedly rented out the entire fourth floor, paying $1.3 million for a luxurious suite.

To celebrate the arrival of their first child, Jay-Z released a rap single on his website titled "Glory."

"The most amazing feeling I feel ... Baby I'll paint the sky blue, my greatest creation was you," the new father rapped.

"The most beautifullest thing in this world, it's daddy's little girl," he continued, calling his daughter his "Little B" and predicting she will be "a younger, smarter, faster me."

"You're my child with a child from Destiny's Child, that's a hell of a recipe," he added.

The music mogul, whose real name is Shawn Carter, also revealed in the song that Beyoncé had previously suffered a miscarriage.

"Last time the miscarriage was so tragic, we was afraid you disappeared," the 42-year-old rapped, adding "all the pain of the last time, prayed so hard ithttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif was the last time."

Beyoncé announced her pregnancy at the August 2011 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles.

Her former bandmate Kelly Rowland appeared to let slip the baby's sex in a http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gifNovember interview, saying, "I have no idea what I'm going to buy Beyoncé at the baby shower because Jay is going to buy that little girl every single thing possible. She won't be spoiled but she will be very well looked-after."

Beyoncé and Jay-Z were married on April 4, 2008.
